Each spring members of the club scour their gardens for the most appropriate plants to share with the community. They create beautiful planters, baskets and other garden items, and get busy putting it all together in the elegant Ballroom and North Parlor of the Oxford Community Arts Center. This fun and elegant event draws gardeners from all over the area and provides a great deal of the funding for the club’s special projects.
The Quick Sale begins at 8:00 am in the North Parlor and is open to everyone on a “walk-in” basis. The Quick Sale consists of tables and tables of garden plants, ranging from common and not so common perennials such as daisies, all manner of hosta, tropicals and herbs. You will also find some less common annuals, wild flowers and even books and plant labels at very reasonable prices. Don’t dawdle! By the time the Live Auction begins most of the best finds in the Quick Sale are gone.
The Live Auction requires reservations and begins in the Ballroom at 9:30 a.m. with a wonderful free luncheon following the auction. Container gardens, special plants and combinations and any manner of other extraordinary finds are auctioned by Des Fleurs special “friend” and botanist, Jack Keegan.
